Colonial Days (where the past meets the future)...the first Colonial Days was proclaimed in June, 1964 with a celebration "in official recognition of the improvements made in the business district of the Village." Colonial Days observance is a celebration of heritage.

Colonial Days has grown from this modest beginning to one of the largest and longest consecutively held outdoor festivals in upstate New York. The Colonial Days parade now has the distinction as the largest professionally adjudicated High School Marching Band parade in New York State.

Activities

Truly a community occasion, the Colonial Days celebration embodies our "spirit" with music from the local high school bands, good fellowship, great food and, of course, the thrill of rides on the midway, right in our own hometown park.

Other Colonial Days activities include a Miss Colonial Days pageant, local high school bands, rides and games for kids of all ages.

It's bright lights, pride in the community and just plain fun.

Miss Colonial Days

Do you know a young lady who would like to represent the Painted Post community in the Colonial Days Parade, the Festival of Lights Parade and through out the year at various other functions? Candidates for Miss Colonial Days compete in a variety of categories including scholastics, public speaking, talent, poise and evening gown. It's an exciting experience for everyone involved!

The Colonial Days Queens Contest attracts young ladies ranging from 4-18 competing in six different age categories. The competition is held on Thursday of Colonial Days week in Hodgeman Park.

More information and applications can be obtained by contacting Alisa Parmenter at 607-259-6139.
